Why the book swap?

We strongly believe that books are meant to be read, not live out their lives on a shelf.

Why not the library?

Libraries are fantastic resources! Our space is different in that there is no timer on when you have to return the book. Once you trade for a book, it’s yours—but we encourage you to bring it back in and trade for another!

Why not a normal bookstore?

New books are expensive! Plus, most books spend their lives collecting dust on a shelf. We want to encourage people to think of books as shared resources! This not only builds community, but allows us to rethink the consumerist mindset we’ve all grown up in.

How does it work?

We’re starting off as an events-based space. Throughout the year, we’ll host “book-swapping” events where you can bring a book and swap it for a new one.

Eventually, depending on the community’s interest, we may open a physical location so you can swap whenever you want!

A few notes:

You can accumulate stars!

• You can “swap in” one day and “swap out” a different day. We’ll keep track of your stars!

• You can swap two 2-star books for one 4-star book, or a 5-star for a 3-star and save the two extras for another day, etc.

If you don’t have enough stars for the book you want, you can pay for whatever your stars don’t cover. Or bring in another book and add to your star collection!
